Breeding

We are happy to market new innovative tulip varieties.

With these varieties we want to make an environmental difference for the future and improve the tulip assortment in general. Based on this need, we started our own breeding programme.

The breeding process requires patience. The selection criteria are strict; in addition to good forcing and growth properties, fusarium insensitivity is of great importance. It is also essential that the varieties are highly productive with planting material and deliverable tulip production.

Seedlings (tulip grown from seed) are extensively tested on water and potting soil. Forcing rate, leaf position and bud presentation are important success factors. Most tulips are ready for naming after a period of 10 to 15 years of development after cross-breeding.

Every year, the most promising new varieties are further developed and assessed during the Market forcing show
